Missed payments
What happens if a payment fails, the grace period, and how to catch up.
If a payment doesn’t go through, your recipient is never affected and nothing gets more expensive. Here is exactly what happens, and how to get back on track.
Due date
Payment due. Autopay collects it.
Days 1 to 3
Grace period. Pay any time; nothing changes.
After day 3
Overdue. New sends pause.
You catch up
Sends resume. Your schedule carries on.
Why a payment fails
Almost always, autopay couldn’t collect: the wallet didn’t hold enough USDC, or autopay’s approval had been revoked. The app marks the payment as due and shows you what’s owed.
The grace period
You have 3 days after the due date to make the payment. Pay any time in those 3 days and it’s as if nothing happened. There are no late fees.
After the grace period
- The payment is overdue. Your plan stays open and your schedule carries on.
- New sends pause until you’re caught up. Your other plans aren’t affected.
- Your limit stops growing while anything is overdue.
- What you owe doesn’t change. No interest, no late fee, nothing added.
- Your recipient keeps every cent. Sprout never claws back a transfer.
Catching up
Open the plan and pay the overdue amount. Payments go to the oldest one first, so Pay next payment always clears what’s overdue. The moment you’re current, sends resume.
